Xiaomi unveiled the next generation of its budget smartphones Redmi 5 and Redmi 5 Plus at a launch event in China. The screen on Redmi 5 measures 5.7-inch, whereas the bigger Redmi 5 Plus sports a 5.99-inch screen. While the design of the front face looks very recent, the back is reminiscent of the preceding Redmi 4.
In addition to the unusual 18:9 display, the Redmi 5 and the Redmi 5 Plus also highlight metal bodies, the fingerprint sensor on the back and improved cameras, among other things. While the company hasn't revealed the availability of the Redmi 5 and Redmi 5 Plus in India, you can expect the phones to reach the country soon given the company's past track record.
Price of Redmi 5 and 5 Plus
Xiaomi Redmi 5 price is CNY 799 (roughly Rs. 7,800) for the 2GB RAM/ 16GB storage variant, while the 3GB RAM/ 32GB storage variant is priced at CNY 899 (roughly Rs. 8,800). The Redmi 5 Plus price is CNY 999 (roughly Rs. 9,700) for the 3GB RAM/ 32GB storage variant, while the 4GB RAM/ 64GB storage variant price is CNY 1,299 (roughly Rs. 12,700).
